Gimmie cosmetics stemmed from a desire to give my eldest daughter a confidence boost. At nine years old, my gorgeous Mel loved playing in her beautiful 4c kinky coily hair – twisting it and pulling it... this caused severe breakage, and her hair just wouldn't retain its length. After months of trying different strengthening creams, shampoos, lotions, and potions, nothing worked - so I got in the kitchen and formulated my own! I needed a product that beautifully conditions all hair types (as my youngest daughter, GG, has looser 3b/4a curls), one which is safe for kiddos (big and small!), and one which can champion the true meaning of natural haircare. So, Mel and I got to work in the kitchen, playing, experimenting, doing tons of formulating and testing, and finally, we made a funny looking whipped shea cream that looked like ice cream. Mel and I added some natural colour and scented oils, and hey, presto! – whipped scented joy in a jar. After sharing our creation with family and friends, we found there was a demand for both adults and children to enjoy taking care of their bodies and hair, with many captivated by our array of fresh scents and surprised by the smooth texture of our cream.
